Just a few minutes until kickoff of the Super Bowl, Bob is making his heart attack special popcorn and FREAKING OUT with nerves, and for some reason I've decided to post to this blog at this particular moment. I've been told in no uncertain terms that I am NOT to go into labor during this game, so I'm crossing my fingers, knocking on wood and trying to find ways to stay calm and cool and collected during this game. I don't get as worked up as Bob does for the G-men, but I do absolutely want them to win and hope they come out on the field with purpose and determination to beat the Patriots!
Anyway, let's just jump right into the gift photos, shall we? (being that this is the internet and all, I'm excluding last names and just using initials of last names in order to preserve a little privacy)

Bob and I went for the largest box first, which held this wonderful Gymini Play Mat given by Dan and Lisa R. We were still getting the hang of taking the photos of each gift amidst all of the chaos of boxes, which you can tell in this shot where Bob is mostly covering me up. :-)

Next up, from Joan D., is a gorgeous and snuggly soft blanket wrapped around a collection of parenting and new baby education books, which we DESPERATELY need! I hadn't bought a single educational book about parenting at that point, so it was a very thoughtful shower gift.

Another necessity is a carrier, and our friends Jen and Pete L. sent us the Baby Bjorn. They loved the Bjorn when their son was small, especially when Pete was watching his beloved Patriots games (booooo Patriots!) with Spencer, and I'm looking forward to using ours now that we have one!

Woohoooo, our first Giants baby gift! Bob was so thrilled that he sorta forgot that I was to be in the photo, too.

His mom-in-law admonished him a little and we got this shot with the other Giants gift, an adorable teddy bear mobile. Both are from Greg and Julie S., also monster Giants fans and they're expecting a baby soon, too! (their third)

The three photos above document the gifts we got from Steve and Amy G., our good friends from college days. That last picture will be funny to some friends because it shows me taking a closer look at the bottle and nipple brushes that were sent...and I'm not sure I'm liking what I see. The back story is that when we had a baby shower years ago for another girlfriend, someone gave her a nipple brush and I didn't quite know what it was. When someone said it was a nipple brush, I took that literally and though it was for BREAST nipples, not bottle nipples, and said something like "wow, that would really hurt!". What can I say? I'm getting better now, but back then I was highly naive in the ways of the baby world!
This post is getting cumbersome, so I'll end it and start another after watching a little football...
